Prof. Dr Angela Oels has held the Chair of Political Science with a focus on climate policy at the newly founded interdisciplinary Centre for Climate Resilience at the University of Augsburg since April 2022. Since April 2023, she has also been Deputy Managing Director of the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Augsburg. Prof Dr Angela Oels has earned a reputation as a discourse researcher and co-founder of Climate Governmentality Studies. She received her doctorate from the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia in England in 2001 and habilitated in political science at the University of Hamburg in 2016. In 2015, Angela Oels was awarded the Humboldt Research Fellowship from Riksbankens-Jubiläumsfond in combination with a visiting professorship at Lund University for one year. From 2016-2019 she was Assistant Professor of Environmental Governance at the Open University of the Netherlands.
