Dr Susanne Dröge has been Head of the Climate Protection and Energy Division at the Federal Environment Agency since October 2022. Dr Dröge, who holds a degree in economics, completed her doctorate at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management in 2005 and worked at the German Institute for Economic Research’s Energy, Transport and Environment Department until 2006. From 2006 to 2022, she worked in the Global Issues research group at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, at times as project and research group leader, on international climate policy, climate policy instruments and the security policy implications of climate change. Her research focuses on trade policy instruments and the implications of implementing the Paris Climate Agreement. Susanne Dröge has been involved in various committees for many years, including the GIZ Board of Trustees until 2022 and the Advisory Board of the Centre for Planetary Health Policy since 2023. She is a member of the Presidium of the German Protestant Church Congress.
