Dr Susanne Dröge is Head of Department at the Federal Environment Agency since October 2022. Dr Dröge is an economist by training and holds a PhD from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management. She worked at the German Institute for Economic Research’s Energy, Transport and Environment Department until 2006. From 2006 to 2022, she worked in the Global Issues Division at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, at times as the head of the research group. Her fields of expertise comprise, international climate policy, climate policy instruments and the security policy implications of climate change. Her research focuses on trade policy tools and the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Susanne Dröge has been involved in various committees for many years, including the GIZ Board of Trustees until 2022 and the Advisory Board of the Centre for Planetary Health Policy since 2023. She is a member of the Presidium of the German Protestant Convention (Kirchentag).
