The CGG is an interdisciplinary research center of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hamburg. It comprises the Research Area “Global Climate Governance” which aims to identify forms of governance that shape the relationship between society and the environment (especially the climate system), and to examine changes occurring in them. The focus is on the governance of economic dynamics at various levels of society: consumers and households, corporate actors, national policies, and international regimes. An understanding of these dynamics allows an assessment of the options and barriers to a global transformation to a low-carbon society. Contributions from the social sciences and economics are thereby innovative for climate research.
