Coordination activity and standards: the OOPC and the CLIVAR NORP
Bremerhafen, GermanyThe Ocean Observations Panel for Climate (OOPC) has recently taken an increased interest in the Arctic. The panel makes recommendations for ocean observations Essential Ocean Variables related to important global issues. These recommendations consider current observing and modelling needs. CLIVAR has recently formed a new panel for northern high latitudes, the Northern Oceans Regional Panel (NORP). The panel has identified several important climate questions related to northern high-latitude oceans and seas. This presentation will briefly highlight OOPC and CLIVAR NORP activity to date.
