IASS Focal Topic Year: “Justice in Sustainability”

The lecture is called “Climate Crisis Activism from a Southern Perspective: From the Shale Revolution to Debt for Climate” with Esteban Servat. Drawing on his own experience as an activist and informed by his scientific training, Esteban Servat will talk about the environmental and climate impacts of gas and fracking around the world, the role of gas in the future of world energy, the “shale revolution.” He will link its consequences for the planet, methane emissions and the Global Methane Pledge, frontline struggles from the Global South, and the role and responsibility from the Global North.

The lecture will be moderated by IASS Fellow Judith Pape.
